Apple strudel


Delicious apple strudel. Easy to make for everyday or special occasions in any time of the year.




Ingredients:

For the dough: 
  • 750 g all purpose flour
  • 3 spoons of sugar
  • 1 bag of dry yeast (or 1 small cube of fresh)
  • 350 ml milk
  • 4 spoons oil (I am using olive oil)
  • 120 g butter
For applesauce:
  • 6-7 bigger apples (any kind of)
  • 50g butter
  • 1-2 dl sugar (it depends on how sweet your apples are, so you must try and add more if it's needed)
  • 3 spoons of cinnamon
  • 1/2 spoon of vanilla sugar
Preparation:
  1. Peel the apples and cut them into small pieces. Mix them with sugar and cinnamon. 
  2. Melt the butter with vanilla sugar in a large pot. Add apples into melted butter and cook it till all sugar melts and apples become soft. About 5-7 minutes, then remove from the stove and let it cool.
  3. Now it's time to make the dough.
  4. Warm up just a little bit around 1-2 dl milk.
  5. Melt the butter and let it cool little bit.
  6. Mix warm milk with yeast, 1 spoon of flour and 1 spoon of sugar. Let yeast to work.
  7. Put the flour in a large mixing bowl and make a hole in the middle.
  8. When the yeast mix is ready (when it bubbles) pour it in the flour, add the rest of the milk, sugar, oil and butter. Mix it all together till you make smooth and nice dough. You don't have to work the dough too long, just till it's smooth. Let it to rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
  9. When the dough is double in the size, divide it into 4 pieces. Work each piece one by one, very short then roll out each 3-4 cm thick. 
  10. Spread applesauce on the top of the dough and roll it. Do this for next three pieces.
  11. Place rolls into baking pan. Use baking paper to cover the bottom.
  12. Bake it for 25 minutes on 220 C degrees.
  13. If you are not sure that the dough is baked inside, take out the middle one after 20-25 minutes and cut it in the middle and check it. Bake it more if it's needed. But be careful. :)
  14. Let it cool and sprinkle with powder sugar.
  15. Enjoy in this delicious apple strudel with your friends and family.
